Default 1995 Blazer instrument panel light not working - 12-19-2006 , 10:25 AM

Please Help!

My 95 4dr 4X4 Blazer instrument panel lights and heater/ac center
lights are not working when the headlamps are turned on. Dome, hatch
under the dash light are okay.

Check the left side dash fuse box and all fuse are okay - is there
another fuse panel that I am not aware of?

Thanks in advance, Frank

Update - Paking light don't work either - could it be the headlight
switch?

Possibly, also maybe check for a bad common ground too.

Thanks for the reply...found the problem...I few weeks ago, I brought
the truck into a trailer/cap place to place an order on a Class II tow
bar. While I was waiting to order one, they had a promtion going on
for the week, where if you purchased a tow bar from them - they will
install the wire hookup for free, so I let them. Yesterday morning, I
finally pickup my trailer and plug it in. Didn't notice anything due to
the time of day, last night when I went out, I noticed there were no
instrument panel lights...turned out that the tailer/cap installer
connected the brown (parking lights) wire on the truck to the white
(ground) wire on the connector. So, without anything plug in it worked
for several weeks, without any problem, As soon as I plug the trailer
in - poof!!

Damage - The 20 Amp fuse and headlight switch and instrument panel
dimmer, right front parking lamp bulb, rear left side tailight bulb.

Lucky I know someone in the auto rec business where i got the parts for
free
Re-did the wiring properly.
I am also lukcy I didn't have them install the tow bar - GOD only
knows what else would of happen yesterday morning LOL

All is well...Thanks, Frank

I think I would try to go after the guy that wired it wrong for the
cost of repair.
