Default Check 4X4 - 05-18-2007 , 05:52 PM

I have a 2000 gmc sierra 5.3 4X4(electronic push button).Recently the check
FWD has indicated on the message system. The check FWD has started to come
on after the truck has been diven 10 to 20 min.Sometimes when I put the
truck in 4X4 it will not come out until I shut the truck off and
restart. All 4X4 mods seem to work.Had all diff and transfer fluids changed
with OEM about 2000 kms ago.Would appreciate advice before I take to
dealer.

For starters, remove the TCM fuse for several minutes to clear Tcase
encoders motor control modules memory and then try it again. Those
push button 4x4 systems are trouble prone with age and usually the
encoder moter goes bad when there is a fail. The reset is a freebie to
try. If you have dealer replace the encoder motor be prepared to get
skinned cost wise. Myself I would NEVER by or own a push button 4x4
system as I call them "PUSH AND PRAY". Starting in 07. GM change the
switch and now they are "TWIST AND PRAY"
