Default gmc 3500 - 09-16-2006 , 06:59 AM






my new gmc 2004 has 8.1 big motor and uses oil 1quart per 1000 miles
they say this is normal use does any one else have this problem it has
20700 miles on it any help will be apperacited THANKS CHET

Stop using 5w30 oil in it and it will reduce oil consumption. The is a
lot more surface area in cylinders and the engine operates at a higher
average vacum because it does not have to work as hard as a smaller
motor so it tends to use lighter oil quicker. Personally I think 5w30
has no bussiness in such a engine requardless of factory
recommandations. I never use 5w30 in my vehicles anyway (I use 10w30)
except maybe for a few months a year if it is a really cold winter.

Start using the worlds finest oil that is Amsoil.. and the new filter
they came out with go at least 25000 miles between changes.... check it
out..

Yea right. You do not need amsoil for engine to last a long time as
regular changes with regular oil of good quality will do fine. Also
this 25K between changes is BS. Sure it "might" not break donw but it
will get dirty and contaminant with combustion by products long before
that and the filter does not remove everything either. ALso I
seriously question you coment "the world finest oil". You may like it
but that does not make it the best nor cost effective ethier. (it is
about the worlds most expensive oil though)
