Default My jeep - 02-10-2006 , 12:04 PM

Greetings from an austrian Jeep-driver!

I bought my '89 XJ 2.5l 4x4 in the austrian ebay for 2000 Euros, and it

was heavily modified for Trial contests and other 4WD events. It had
174000+ miles on it, much of that was offroad, and must be actually
even be more because the previous owner had much larger (military type)

tires on it without modifying the odometer. Needless to say it wasn't
streetlegal anymore.
I invested some time re(down)building it and another 2400 Euros making
the car streetlegal again and undoing some problems from its previous
hard life, and now after more than a year it has 182k+, and everything
is working great. I'm still doing offroad now and then. For european
standards my car is a wreck, with none of the modern standards, but the

engine is doing great (nothing had to be done to it, despite its age
and previous usage, due to the good old GM-workmanship), I feel very
safe and confident with it and I use it as a daily driver especially in

winter.
So my old and trusty Jeep might be a good bargain just as well as any
brand new, leased, whatever model. Especially the old original! boxy
design is superb and superior to any modern design, imho.
