Default Power windows - 05-21-2007 , 06:55 AM

We have a 2000 mountaineer and the power sunroof and windows just stopped
working. What could be the problem? I am thinking it is the motor. The
fuse is fine.

Both the sunroof and the windows don't work?

I'd check that fuse again, or look for another fuse, or a fusible
link. A remote possibility is a bad ground, if there is a common
ground for the various 'openings'. My guess is not...

Check for power to the fuse, too.

Look for a relay, many vehicles have a power window (and sunroof)
relay that is in the circuit.

My money is against the motor as they both stopped. Are the controls
for this in the driver door? Have you tried the passenger window with
the passenger window switch? I'd expect that to work. If it does,
I'd say your problem is the switch panel. If in the door, having the
windows cracked in the rain can be the cause.
If the passenger window won't move even with the passenger switch, I'd
check the fuses again as Peter suggested.
If it's the switch panel in the driver door I'd suggest installing a
set of Ventvisors when you replace the switch.
