One aspect that often seems to get overlooked is the fact that a lot of
people buy larger engined cars and 4X4s for towing caravans. (I know, I
know...). The vast marjority of those people currently spend their holiday
cash in the UK, thereby supporting the UK leisure and tourist industries
whilst paying tax on the fuel they use and VAT on the stuff they buy in
Skeggy, Southend, Newquay or wherever. Price them off the roads and they'll
be Easy Jetting off to sunnier climes for their hols and taking their cash
with them to spend with Johnny Foreigner...

As my 4.0 litre petrol guzzling 4X4 was built and registered before 2001
it's still £175 per year. For now.

The Jeep Wrangler has Command Trac and all 4 wheels are locked up together
in 4x4 Mode via chain drive, so does this change the equation at all?
