Default 1989 Chev K1500 Pass Door Issues - 02-14-2009 , 08:33 PM

Hi,

89 Chev Silverado K1500
290,000km
5.7L
Stepside Reg Cab

My ole' 89 Chev has passenger door problems. It won't close properly unless
you lift it while closing. I just changed the hinge pins and bushings and
the problem is still there. Could the whole door be out of align? Or could
the latch be malfunctioning?

Problem solved.

I put a jack under the end of the door and lifted it enough now that the
door shuts fine.

Bad thing about that design is that hinges are bonded on and while you
replaced pins the hinges themselves could be worn. You may need to
consult a body shop to have hinges rehung.
