Default 1991 Chevy Blazer automatic tranny ? - 08-01-2005 , 11:06 PM

Did the 1991 S-10 Blazer have a 4L60E transmission in it? If not, which one
did it have and what year did they switch transmission types in the S-10
Blazers?

the '60E didn't appear until mid '93.. prior to that it was the 4L60
aka TH700-R4

Thanks Bret! Was the TH700-R4 a more reliable tranny than the 4L60E has
been? Just curious as to whether or not you had any background comparison
info to share with me on these two.

180k on a 91 S-10 4L60 tranni (bought at 110K) with out a hint of
trouble from it, except for some slightly burnt fluid when first
purchased (did put a rebuilt 4.3 in it at 150k due to piston slappin')

The hard parts are basically the same.. the 4L60E is the computer
controlled version of the TH700-R4. they're fairly stout in an S
truck.
