The speedometer has become erratic, it will appear to work sometimes
and then peg out at the far end and stay there, never returns to zero.
When i parked the truck this morning the speedometer read 100 mile an
hour, with the truck shut off. Anyone see anything like this before I
take it to the shop.

It is the needle movement in the instrument cluster, this can be repaired.
Really a common problem with the newer ck trucks/suburban. If you have any
questions, try a speedometer shop in tacoma washington heres there number 1
