With genius like that, it's no wonder they've been pretty good at
times this year. The teams who went out to qualify with dry-biased
setups for the wettest qualifying of the year could do with some of
that common sense. Of course my words are ready to be eaten if it's
dry tomorrow..

Why does Button drive like he wants to let as many people as possible
stay in the hunt??? Is it some sadistic, supremely arrogant, super
confident teasing of his rivals or did he leave the handbrake on
today? Smells to me like he's seen the winning post (for too long this
season) and nerves are getting to him or maybe being too careful. Mind
you, I can't blame him getting over-excited at having a decent car for
once.
I think he's adopted the 'Prost' approach - bang in as many points as
possible to build up a lead, then carefully manage it for the rest of
the season.

Of course, a very dodgy call from Brawn left both their cars on extreme
wets in Q2 when they really needed inters - Rubens was incredibly
fortunate to make it through to Q3.

I reckon the fuel loads will be largely similar - as everyone appeared
to go out to run the whole session on track, as it was rapidly drying
through the session.

You were right.

01 McLaren Mercedes Lewis Hamilton 661.0*
02 McLaren Mercedes Heikki Kovalainen 656.5*
03 Ferrari Giancarlo Fisichella 683.5*
04 Ferrari Kimi Räikkönen 651.5
05 BMW Sauber Robert Kubica 656.0
06 BMW Sauber Nick Heidfeld 650.5*
07 Renault Fernando Alonso 652.0
08 Renault Romain Grosjean 677.2*
09 Toyota Jarno Trulli 658.5
10 Toyota Kamui Kobayashi 671.6*
11 STR Ferrari Jaime Alguersuari 671.5*
12 STR Ferrari Sébastien Buemi 659.0
14 RBR Renault Mark Webber 656.0
15 RBR Renault Sebastian Vettel 683.5*
16 Williams Toyota Nico Rosberg 657.0
17 Williams Toyota Kazuki Nakajima 664.0
20 Force India Mercedes Adrian Sutil 656.5
21 Force India Mercedes Vitantonio Liuzzi 680.0*
22 Brawn Mercedes Jenson Button 672.0*
23 Brawn Mercedes Rubens Barrichello 650.5

Rubens 5.5kg lighter than Webber.

To be honest, I don't think the fuel loads are as important as they're
often made out to be - the only difference would be, possibly, that
Button can run on fewer stops than the front runners.

I think weather will decide this one.

Guesswork allied to cynicism!

Makes sense..Ross will have 'encouraged' Rubens to go on an aggressive
3 stop as he's little to lose (but might do quite well on it) and
Jenson gets the less risky two stop strategy. Whichever strategy
works, he gets his manufacturers title. Rain may affect play though.

Kinda depends on whether you come out of your pit stops behind a slow,
wide car or not.

I'd like to see a dry start followed two laps later by a torrential
downpour. Kimi would have some fun and the mix would be well stirred.

You going somewhere nice?

/me back from a week on the Algarve last week.
Since Rachel and I have not had a proper holiday (i.e. > 1 week) since
1997, we're off to Singapore and Sydney for three weeks

Sydney is great. Are you going to do the bridge climb?

If the price is not quite as insane as it seems to be. I certainly want to.

Plus a cruise, plus dinner in the tower

Singapore flyer and night zoo are on the plan as well.

I know some *really* nice places in Ft William if that's your area.

No, just visiting.

Any time I've been in Fort William it's always seemed a bit of a dump, to be
honest. Oban runs it close, saved only by having nicer restaurants.
