a) Check the exhaust under the engine, you might have a small crack
caused by hitting the road once too much (potholes, etc.)
I had a rattling noise, at 2750 rpm, fixed by soldering. Bit more than
100€ repair.

I've got a diesel-ish noise at startup, though oil is OK. Dunno what
it is but I'll ask to check when I bring in the car for the 40k
checkup in a month or two..
