Driving normally when oil warning light came on. Added 1 ltr of oil and
commenced driving again. Oil warning light came on again and engine noise
apparent. Further ltr of oil added. Drove on. Car started chugging like a
tractor and power was gradually lost. Any suggestions?

With the engine noise, and later symptoms, I'd say engine severe engine
damage. To fix the engine is probably going to cost more than a donor
car/engine will cost.
