How old is your cabriolet?

The soft top on my Audi cabriolet doesn't appear to open properly any
more. It seems to get stuck part way through the opening process. It's
fine until that point, closing the soft top works fine. Any ideas?

I've looked in the handbook but it doesn't seem too clear how to manually
open/close the top if I need to?

It's a 1996 model, sorry. I should have mentioned that!

I had the same problem with my 1998 model two weeks ago.
I went to the dealer in Stuttgart, Germany and they said on 90%
of the cases the problem is the cable harnes that goes allong the
trunks hinge. The cables seem to wear out due to opening
and closing the trunk. This cable feeds a sensor that tells position
of the soft top and when this signal is missing, it stays on the oppening
of the cover. The problem is you have one on each side.
I mooved the cables around and sudently startet working again.
In my case the problem was on the left side. I bought the harnes
(?126) and changed it myself. No problems sice.

Good luck.
