Default GP4 stability - 10-23-2003 , 04:21 PM

Hi all,

I've tried running GP4 in both Win98 and XP Home, on a system which runs
Memtest and Prime95 for hours on end with no problems. Yet it still crashes
to desktop constantly. Official game + patch, and I've tried it without any
edits or add-ons. Some sim forum posts report this, and blame it on bad
coding, or even claim that stability varies depending on which language you
install your OS in! I'm willing to believe anything at this point, as the
general opinion of this last Crammond offering is pretty damning, but
thought I'd have one last try: does anyone have any idea why this might be
happening, and what I could possibly do to be able to play GP4? I have F1C,
and generally I feel it's a better game, but it has no hotseat mode, and a
mate and I have been hotseating ever since the first GP game... have
returned to GP3 in desperation.

Thanks,
Quinn

If you use GPxPatch with the debug option, perhaps Rene Smit can tell you
more in his forum at http://www.xs4all.nl/~rsdi/ if you paste the debug log
in your message.

Thanks Bart - hadn't thought of that cunning plan.

You must be unlucky. I have 3 PCs in the house, all very different ages and
specs, different graphics cards and everything. Even different OSes, (98,
Me, and XP), and GP4 always works perfectly on all of them.

Johnny.
