Can't say that I've experienced that Prod. I've run a handful of races and
the sound has hung in the whole time.

I can only assume you have the absolute latest drivers for your OS for that
SB card. I have had a lot of problems on and off with SB cards and the Papy
NASCAR series over the years (all SB Live's, Live16, Live MP3+5.1, etc). The
Audigy I had in my last computer was the best until I built my latest box
with an Nvidia chipset mobo and onboard sound. It has been flawless to this
point with 2003 and CTS/2003.

You runnin XP, 98/ME, 2000?

Running XP-Home. Actually don't know on the drivers, just had a new machine
built for me and 'supposedly he was going to put all the newest drivers in, not
just what was on the install CD--guess I need to go back and check... (What I
get for trusting people...)

I had had problems with Papy before but the new SB had solved most of
them...not much of a hardware guy...so I get a little lost in some of this
stuff...thanks for the help will check it out...

Well, from what I hear, XP Home is the least trusted OS for gaming nowadays,
but it should workout fine for you if you get all your drivers in order. I
just built a box myself too and the drivers that came with my "brand new"
fancy shmancy video card were 3 months out of date and did need replacing
when I installed it.

I would try to find out which drivers are being reported for your sound card
and would then check out SB's site to make absolutely sure that you have the
latest XP Home drivers from the SB website. You should be able to find them
in the hardware section under sound or possibly if dxdiag works in XP, it
should list all your multimedia concerned hardware (sound card, video card)
and their drivers all in one place.

I can't really help you with mobo drivers as your system appears to be Intel
based and the last 7 or 8 years has found me building my own AMD machines.
Sometimes, mobo drivers can be the issue (since that is where everything
plugs in ultimately) but I know nothing of P4-based boards or their drivers,
sorry. I just built up an AMD 2800+ on an Nvidia based mobo and once I got
all the drivers up to date everything is fine. The sound is built-in on this
board and it is the first mobo-based soundcard that has worked properly for
me in sims. The video card (GF FX 5600 Ultra 128MB) took about 2 days to
find the 'best' driver for. The latest wasn't as fast as one that was about
a month older. You have to tinker to get the best performance out of these
rascals.

Good luck with it.
