Hi

I'm seeking a full motion system for racing simulators. Does anyone know
here I can buy such as system or how to build one?

Thanks in advance
Johnny

Their stuff looks mightily impressive if you ask me.

There are some awesome full motion platform systems out there! For a
more reasonable approach to motion cueing check out:

http://www.ultraforcesim.com

The web site will be updated soon with pictures of the new products.
I've managed to take a lot of cost out of the design, so expect lower
prices for the UltraForce G-seats and G-cushions.

There is a point where it is idiotic to go to certain lengths in simming
instead of going and getting yourself an actual racecar, trailer and tow
bar - this is well past that point. Maybe if you live on the moon or in the
north or south pole..........................

I can see your point, Byron. It's definitely valid.

Then again, I can tell you from running a simple one-kart racing
program, racing simulations offer a lot of bang-for-the-buck. When I
finally got out of kart racing it wasn't because of the money. The
problem is the incredible amount of time and effort required to field
any sort of race car. The ratio of preparation and travel time v.
track time is huge.

With racing simulations you get all the seat time you can stand with
no tire bill, fuel bill, entry fees, hotel bill, ad nauseum.

I didn't see any pricing on the Hexatech site, but I did notice that they
even have car bodies for those monsters. I think you could easily purchase a
decent road racer for one of them..........:-) I think I might rather go the
less drastic route and talk to Pat first......:-)

I agree, but it all depends on the application you make
of it. In Dubai, they had two linked together in an
amusement center. Price for a 15 minute ride was cheaper
than rental karts.

Indeed; that level of equipment isn't targeted directly at consumers anyway,
but it intended for high-end arcade and corporate applications. After all,
the bulk of the development on the Moog FCS platform itself was done for
customers like Boeing and Airbus. Interesting tibdit was the bit about
Hexatech announcing that a freely downloadable demo of the sim software
would be available soon, so you can practice at home. The screenshots are
nothing to write home about, but it could be interesting. Wonder who's
doing the coding for them...

But forget the platform, I want the wheel. Direct drive, 20NM of torque and
up to 5500 deg/sec? I like my G25, but.... ;-)
