Look here: http://www.nros.org/nascar/files.php

Not too shabby, IMHO

Well, IMHO, the SIMBIN guys finally got it about right with GTR2 and
they probably weren't that much off with GTL either. Driving the
Porsches in GTR2 is a joy, the handling feels good both at low and high
speed, you can catch slides and the car seems to respond to setup
changes in a logical way.

I don't think that rFactor's physics are inherently more
driving-on-ice-like than GTR2. In fact, the GTR2 rip-off mod for rFactor
that is circulating on the net (not the RFX one) is practically
indistinguishable from the original (rain excepted, as rFactor doesn't
support it).

ISI's physics engine looks now quite mature to me. Pretty much any kind
of car handling can now be simulated in a satisfactory way by careful
tuning of the parameters. Since the release of GTR2, it seems that
recent mods now come out with more grip. iDT's mods come to mind, with
the Gallardo's handling being quite similar to that of GTR2 cars, and
the Formula BMW cars feeling just right for low-powered open-wheelers.
Some rFactor modders are now apparently aligning themselves with SIMBIN
in the way they use ISI engine. OTOH, with the right (or wrong) set of
parameters, ISI physics can still be used to create more Papyrus-like
behaviour. For example, one can try the Car of Tomorrow (COT) mod, the
Catherams or the Legends cars.

IMHO, the main weakness of rFactor is the unavailability of a standalone
boxed CD/DVD version on the shelves and the lack of licensed content.

Regards,
Mr. Sylvestre

Where can I find the F3 and 1979 mods?

Many said rfactor is great so I downloaded the demo and was not
impressed. I was told just as you were. Buy the full version. You won't
regret it.

HA, I regretted buying the game.

Have you tried the F3 or 1979 mods? Those are well worth the $40

If you're stuck on Nascar, then you're probably right to stick with N2003.
Have fun....

I'm getting back into race sims and heard rFactor was a good one to try.
So
I downloaded the demo and it just doesn't seem too good. The sounds are
cartoonish, cars sound like bumblebees and the shifting sounds funky. Is
there a NASCAR mod for it? Are there any good NASCAR sims other than
NASCAR
2003?

Is there a good Murcielago for rF ? Or do you mean the new Gallardo ? In
that case, you should also like several of the GTR2 cars.

Mr. S.

That's my feeling too. I like the feel of the one in GTR2 much better.
I've installed the one for rF, done a few laps in it a few times and
haven't touched it since.

Cheers,
Rod.

Yea the Murcielagao in rF is about the same as gtr2. I just have the demo of
gtr2. Anyone have Varano? I did a 1:05.489 in the Murcielago. The second
esse is awesome in this car! You can really throw the car around and save
some wicked slides..
