NR2003: hi-res cars are all low-res

I downloaded some Hi-Res 2007 cars from
http://www.teamsbr.com/nr2003_07cup.php and
http://www.masgrafx.com/masgrafxracing/ but i'll be damned if I can get them
to show up hi-res in the game during a practice session! Does anyone have
any troubleshooting tips for me please?

found that NRTweak saved the day:
