Check Engine Light Issue - 09-23-2003 , 11:26 PM

I have a 1988 325IX and the Check Engine light recently turned on and stays
on. The manual states an emission issue. Has anyone out there experienced
this and know the fault or ways to trouble-shoot the problem.
