My 740i has been having increasing trouble starting from cold.

My regular maintainer can't diagnose if properly, and BMW main dealers say
it is compression problems (bore wear) oiling the plugs making it hard to
start, however many classic symptoms of this (e.g. blue smoke are missing).

Anyone familiar with this sort of problem on higher mileage M60?
