My love affair with the M3's started with the E36. I had a 4 door 97,
a coupe 98. Sadly, I only had my 02 M3 with SMG for less than 2 years
before it met its premature demise at the hands of Savage BMW.
I now have an E30 325is 5 speed and a 996 Turbo 6 speed. It is really
disappointing that Porkchop doesn't have a system like the M SMG,
because honestly, I would have much rather that the Turbo had been
mated with the SMG from my 02 M3. I really don't miss shifting the old
way, but hey, between clutch and torque convertor, clutch always wins.
Anyway, in case you guys have not heard of my story through the
Internet grapevine, here's what happened. And for all of you in
Southern California, I would think long and hard about taking your
bimmer to Savage BMW for service, because what happened to me could
have easily happen to you, only that without a lawyer, your outcome
might have been much worse.
