Default Extended warranty - 03-06-2004 , 06:27 AM

I've an E46 330d which is approaching its 3rd birthday on 23rd March.
Does anyone know how much it would cost to extend the warranty by a
year? Also, is it worth doing or do people tend not to bother?

I live in the UK and wondered whether it would be a BMW fixed price or
is it at the discretion of the dealership?

Thanks, Jason

Hi Jason.

I've just extended my E46 318ci warranty at a whopping £510 per year.
My friend has a 320 ci and another has a 320 se, same price, so I guess it
is a standard charge.
I thought about it for quite a while and also looked at third party warranty
schemes which cost half as much.

I think it is over priced, but it gives me peace of mind.

Regards

Dave

I seem to remember somewhere over 300 quid a year for my E39. I didn't
bother. Spend the money on a Peak Research code reader - about 150 quid,
and then you can tell your local garage what the fault is - or replace the
part yourself.

Just had my notification in today - E39 530D SE touring and it was
£630 - however, may sell in the next 12 months - is it transferable
to the next owner? although if selling via a dealer, they would warrant
for 12 months anyway...

Nick

get the warranty if you can. my bmw certified m3 had $5100us dealer work
performed for free. everything on these cars starts at $1000. my advise is to
get it.

Really.

So, if it told you that the fault was 'rail pressure monitoring', you could
tell the dealer what your car needed?
