Hi...today i drove that 85 6 series I mentioned earlier. It was very nice.
Couple questions, it had a light on that said inspect and that was it. The
ABS light was also on. My biggest concern was the trans. It felt like
maybe the bushings or something were shot, the shifter had no feeling and
felt mushy going through the gears. Also it took a little extra umph to
get
it into second on the 1-2 shift....is this typical and how much would it
coast to fix whatever problem this is. Thanks.
2nd gear synchros are always the first to go. IME, it'll work that way
forever. A good trans oil flush and fill with synthetic might hep.

The inspection light means either the car is due for servicing or the
rechargeable batteries that maintain the memory for the service indicator
lights are worn out.

The ABS light could be anything from a broken wire to rusted out sensor
hubs.

The bushings in the shift linkage wear out and the feel gets sloppy. The
transmission would probably respond favorable to Redline MTL synthetic oil.

If memory has been kind to be I think I read once that the bushings were a
easy job to fix and replace. Any websites that could give me a pointer on
this, or am I just straight up wrong?

See http://normgrills.net/bcg/Short_Shift.html Although this deals with
installing a short-shift kit, the basic moves are the same.
