Default Drivers window loose! - 07-23-2003 , 03:03 PM

The window in the driver's side door has come loose in my '96, 318Ti.
The Bentley manual doesn't cover the window for this model, so I'm
really struggling.

When partially down, I can move the window fore/aft and it falls out of
the rear track easily. The tracks appear to be solidly mounted and I
don't see any means to adjust them.

Also the window pulled out of the rear (of two) bottom support bracket.
I can pop it back on without too much trouble. Should it be glued on the
lower edge of the glass?

I can email photo's to anyone able/willing to help.

Thankx!

You may find that this link (http://www.logun.org/window.htm) will help.
The reason I found for my window falling out of its tracks was that the
window
was rotated forwards slightly - if it's level (_absolutely_ level) it should
fit quite well.
Dunno about the bottom bracket connection to the glass though, I'm afraid.

Check the window is actually in the front rail, too - I had major problems
refitting
as it kept sliding out while I was trying to organise other things.

Hope that helps.

There are replaceable white clips that snap onto the arms and slide into the
window tracks. More than likley yours are faulty and need to be replaced. It's
a fairly inexspensive job that you'll see how to do once you've taken it apart.
The Bentley manual does cover glass removal which should be the same for all
models. Good luck!
