Default Ignition Problems - 07-11-2009 , 10:15 AM

I'm having trouble with the ignition of my Holden Rodeo Twin Cab Ute.
I turn the key & it just clicks once, then nothing. Do that maybe 6 or 7
times & it may crank slowly for a second, then nothing.
Do the click routine a few more times, then without any identifiable change,
on the next atempt the engine will crank & start as if nothing is wrong.
With the engine running, the Park Brake & 'check engine" warning lights are
on.
The battery is fully charged & does not appear to be at fault.

Can anyone speculate on possible issues with this?

The starter relay might be failing. The parking brake light and
the check engine light might be separate issues, or did it all
crop up at once?

have to ram it down their throats.

1. Cables: Heavy cable from the battery to the starter relay
("starter solenoid") and relay to starter motor...check lack of
corrosion, tight, clean connections.

2. Starter Relay (or solenoid): Burned contacts. Usually not
repairable, so replace.

3. Other problems: If they are truely related, then suspect a ground
problem (battery to frame/engine) or ignition (starter) switch,
through which ALL circuits in the vehicle pass. Doesn't sound like
they are actually related, but who knows.
