anyone here think a 2.4 l malibu engine should last more than 46, 000 miles (75,000 KM). Well GM doesn't. I have a 1999 malibu that has turned the crank bearings and done in the engine. GM won't even talk to me. It is off warranty (just under 10,000 miles). I didn't buy it from a dealer and that is all they will say. The customer Help line is a joke. I was told by one woman that I was to take it to a dealer and have them run some tests on it. They would determine the problem and she said that if it was defective then GM would fix, if it was a maintenance problem, I would be on my own. I have the proof that oil changes were done by me and the previous owner. The used car salesman who sold me the car has been talking to the GM help line, you know the one that " May be monitored for training purposes", well they don't have any record of us ever talking to her or anyone else. That is as far as I can get . So much for standing behind your product, GM Canada!!! www.mts.net/dicksonm/gmsucks.htm |

Forbes Magazine website has a review of the 2003 Impala (same category as Malibu). Chevy relies on "fleet sales" for the majority of its Impalas. GM sells to the obvious outlets, much as computer companies prefer to sell "multiple" anythings to any company all-at-once rather to build up sales one at a time. Simply put, somone had to sell "fleets" of vehicles. GM chose to abandon the individual American to the Japanese et al .. . and produce lackluster products. GM's also been living on its truck sales .. . which the Japanese are targeting more and more. .. http://www.forbes.com/2003/08/04/cz_sk_0804test_3.html "A consumer must have true-blue Chevy blood coursing through his veins to pick the Impala over cars like the Accord and Camry, vehicles whose strong reputations are reflected in their terrific resale values."
