Default Replacement Windshield Glass Distortions - 04-13-2007 , 11:56 AM

Has anyone ever had a problem with glass distortions on a replaced
windshield? I recently had my windshield replaced. When I look
through the windshield it feels like I have the wrong prescription of
glasses. They glass was made by XYG Safety Glass. I called the
company who installed the windshield, Safelite Autoglass. They were
very nice and promptly scheduled a warrantee replacement.
Unfortunately, the replacement window also had a distortion. The
technician was good enough to see the second distortion before
attempting to install the windshield. They have finally got an OEM
windshield which will be replaced tomorrow. Hopefully all will be
well after that and I won't have to drive around with an airsick bag
at the ready.

Is there a question in here? Cheap does as cheap is. Applies to
automotive parts, just like jewelry, wives, husbands, and parachutes.

Yes I had to have three windshields installed before I got a good one. The
last one is still just a little bad in some spots but not nearly as bad as
the other two were. I think we can bad our cheap auto insurance companies
for this. They would not pay for an OEM windshield.

Not withstanding the fact that:

OEM glass is 50% more or higher than the NAGS equivalent.

I buy OEM auto glass. I don't have these problems. I tried safelite
once, it lasted a month. Never again!

Safelite sucks!

How do you think they can beat any area competitor's price by 10%?

It's called: "Send me any seconds you got"

There are 2 PPG wholesalers in the area, no problems, two LOF wholesalers in
the area, no problem. The insurance company wants cheap!

That's why when they pay four hours for a frame/uni-body job, I punch in,
and at 4 hours I stop and take pictures and videos.

Insurance companies are not interested in the pre-accident condition, they
want it done as cheap as possible, and screw the insured.
