the basic mk7 fiesta 1.25litre engine used to be an 8v duratec . |
No it wasn't. It was originally a 1.25 Zetec-SE, Ford then changed the name
to a Duratec 16v.

Now ford will is using 1.25 litre 16v duratec dohc.
from wikipedia i found the 8v was an "endura" class duratec. |
Yes, in the Ka it is. The 60 PS Duratec 8v is a badge engineered (think:
Alfa Romeo 156 / Fiat Tipo) Endura-E. But the 1.3 is a very different
engine to the 1.25. As some of the articles allude, the 1.25 is much bigger
and a squeeze to get it under the Ka's bonnet. It is possible, but it's
harder.

Anyone know what type of lump the 16v is. A sigma class Zetec-SE? |
Yes.
The WikiPedia article should include the Duratec 16v engine. I've amended
some very limited bits, if I pull my finger out I'll do the rest.
Blowing my own trumpet:

These articles won't tell you much though.
