Default Madaleine - 05-12-2007 , 10:41 AM

I feel compelled to post this.

I think the whole thing has been taken way OTT! It's a disgrace the girl is
missing, but fundamentally no parent leaves a kid on their own to go out,
have a couple of bevvies and a dinner, especially when on holiday!

If this happened at their home, I can't help but feel the parents would be
persecuted, but the united press front seems to be 'ah these things
happen...' - they do fucking not just happen, you don't leave a kid on your
own for such a lenghty period of time, with CCTV displaying they only
checked on the kids once in 1.5 hours.

To take the piss even further, big league teams in Scotland are sporting
yellow bands on their wrists. Unbelievable! This is 100% a tragedy, but the
parents definitely deserve prosecution or charges to be brought against them
when we find out the poor girl is dead, or the girl is reunited alive with
her parents. I would imagine anybody else with kids would feel the same.
Casting the mind back makes you realise just how idiotic these 2 parents
are.

Without knowing the full details of the case it is unwise to comment on the
parents actions- remember you are hearing what the media are publishing,
that doesn't make it true. In fact the chances are that, in the absence of
real news, the story is being "dressed up" to give something to print.

Either way, the real issue is that the child should have been safe- even if
the parents did do something silly, and the real crime is that someone has
taken this child or she is being held after maybe wondering off. Either way,
she is the victim and should be the focus of the matter until she is found.

As a father I just hope she turns up safe and sound.

Brian

Agreed. However, a contact who's high up in CID who's now over there
revealed to me the poor lass may have went outside the doors herself, to go
find her parents who were dining. This sounds likelier to me than someone
going in the room and randomly grabbing her.

As a father, I would never, ever put my children in that position.

The world has gone officially insane. Find the child, don't milk it by
wearing yellow wrist-bands, which is simply not going to do any help
whatsoever!

I changed the subject - to save my lampooning from group regulars, I decided
to give my opinion on a small bottle of this, which a garage gave me after a
service:

I found it didn't help fuel consumption in the slightest, and whether or not
it done any good remains to be (never) seen. It's a petrol car, so perhaps
not the best test candidate.

Her name was spelled wrong, oops.

MadEleine. Not that anybody in the group cares I know, but felt I should
correct it. Cheers.

I've found that a loose shoe in the handbrake drum of my Omega doesn't
help fuel consumption either.

I had both sets on mine replaced at the service, bit early to tell yet, but
fuel consumption seems better due to my driving style instead of just the
service. Some 5w30 in it instead of 40 perhaps has also helped.
