Default Mondeo Wishbone Symptoms - 11-02-2009 , 08:58 AM

Last MOT I got an advisory that the wishbone bushes on my R reg Mondeo
were starting to go and the guy who arranged the MOT said he was
suprised it passed ( but then he would as he would likely get the job
to do ) :-)

On occasions I have felt that the car wandered a bit in windy
conditions and last night I was coming home in torrential rain on the
M/way and felt it doing the same .

Are these symptoms what you would expect from wishbones needing
replaced or should I be looking elsewhere for the reason . The tyre
pressures were checked and adjusted before I set off.

No. It was very windy last night. I'd be surprised if you weren't blown
about a bit.

The symptoms you need to be looking for are a knocking sound or
vibration like a warped disc under braking.

I'm not prejudiced. I hate everybody equally.

On my R reg Mondeo 1.8 Verona, I find that if I accelerate hard then
brake the car pulls first to one side then the other. Classic sign of
wishbone bushes needing done. Get new wishbones with bushes included,
much easier and quicker than taking out old bushes to replace with new
ones. My car has just rolled over 105,000 miles on the originals. Rear
wheel bearings need done pretty soon as well on mine, I did the fronts
at about 95,000, when one started humming and then split! First time
I've seen that.! Gor Blimey! etc.
