One fault that has continually plagued car ownership for me over the years
has been oil leaking from the cylinder head gasket at the oil transfer port.

I had it with my 1963 Triumph Herald, my 1970 Vauxhall Viva GT (Victor
engine), my 1982 Vauxhall Cavalier 1.6 (you would have thought Vauxhall
would have learned the lesson by then, or perhaps not) and now I have it
with my 1996 Ford Moandeo V6.

In every previous case, the solution has been to source a replacement
cylinder head gasket where the manufacturer has had the good sense to put a
copper ferrule around the oil transfer port hole. Vauxhall never had the
sense to do this - instead for the Victor engine they faffed around with all
sorts of pointless mods (dowels, O-rings, pressure reducers, etc.) It took
the Vauxhall tuning specialist Blydenstein, to produce the gasket that
finally solved the problem on my Viva GT, after three duff repairs by
Vauxhall.

I don't know whether the Moandeo V6 cylinder head gasket has a plain hole at
the oil transfer port, or whether it has a copper ferrule. Guess I'll find
out soon.

Now to the question - how difficult is it to replace the front bank cylinder
head gasket on a V6 Mondeo?

Are there any pitfalls to watch out for? I guess I'll have to fit new
cylinder head bolts.

Any advice/warnings appreciated.
