Default Opinions and Price of this Astra (Ebay Link) - 11-11-2006 , 09:29 AM

My friend is looking for something similar to this and I just wondered
what people thought of them and also how much is the car worth roughly.

Thanks

Looks not bad. Has the tell-tale 'sports fuel filler cap' so has probably
been owned by a boy racer[1] with a heavy right foot.

Buy a 1.8 Focus; far better car.

[1] Generic assumption, may not be true.

That might explain severe seat staining! With a full service history the
starting bid is about the correct going price. Anything over is just
bidding hysteria. Walk away and get a different one. Visit your local
vauxhall dealer in November for a P/X bargain. At least it will have a
known history. That one has a high mileage.
Check all the tyres are the same make, all the dash bulbs work, the aircon
works, also the fitted alarm should function and the car should have TWO
keys. Then move to power steering, turn the wheel and if it makes a strange
noise forget it.
The Astras of that era have a lot of telltale signs, they also eat petrol
like hell. The cambelt will need to be changed unless you see the service
history - or phone Vauxhall and give them the registration and ask when it
was last done. That car might cost a bit !
buy a focus instead, better handling.
