Default 'Motoring Accessory Stores' - 04-07-2007 , 05:14 AM

Are all, without exception, a bunch of useless bastards.

My local motor factor closed down last year, so I don't have anywhere I
can just pop out to anymore.

I need 4 x rubber 'doughnut' type exhaust hangers.

All 3 local places (Halfrauds, ChavWorld and an indie. shop) only have
them 'to special order'.

Surely something so basic and universal should be a stock item, ffs!

Only if it comes with blue neons attached.

Tried your local KackFit or similar?

Not really as most of that tyupe don't sell exhausts. Personally the
first port of call for me would've been a Tyre and Exhaust spot.

I need to order a full set of HT leads for the 75 anyway - which
definitely means ordering online - so I'll get a set of OEM hangers at
the same time.

Bloody annoys me that I have to order 12p parts on the net, though.

You say that, but they stock exhaust paste, bandages, clamps and those
straps to hang drainpipes from ...... as well as selling said
drainpipes.

You're probably right, but, see my post to Timo.

I found a couple in the garage that will do for now.

Once upon a time, coat hangers were wire and doubled up nicely as
emergency exhaust rubbers.

In the old days I always carried a length of galvanised fencing wire in the
boot.
Apart from tying up exhausts, on one occasion it was used to replace a burnt
out CB lead, and on another to make a hand throttle when the accelerator
cable broke on my Morris Minor.
Mike.

Halfords certainly used to sell them - I've got a couple of spares still
in their card.

If you've got a decent branch of Kwik-Fit locally they'll probably give
you them. ;-)
