Anybody have one of these go? I have just been quoted £180 to replace both cables on a 2001 car with 32000 miles I assumed it would be covered by the Ford Direct warranty no such luck!! Ford Customer Services have offered to pay 50% and the garage say it is not unknown Last car they did had only 10000 miles on the clock Handbrake still works just the cable is sticking occasionally Just in the last 30 odd years I can't remember ever having a replacement handbrake cable.. except for a mini Would be interested in some inside info It looks as though they put the cables in before they build the car Thanks Geoff |
I heard about this handbrake problem - I think they've changed the
design a bit on the latest ones.
Strange that the warranty doesn't cover it, is it not still under the
Ford 3-year warranty? If not, then I guess you have no option but to
pay up...
