Default restoring an old car alarm - 07-21-2003 , 08:33 AM

Hi,
I just purchased a 1990 Honda Civic. In the documents given to me, I
found an instruction manual and receipt for a Pirahna alarm (I know
they have been out of business for years). According to the man who
sold it to me (his grandmother had owned the car) at one time the
alarm functioned as an alarm, immoboliser, and remote central locking
facility. I have the keychain button thing but it doesn't appear to
work (and I changed the battery in it). What would be really nice is
to fix the alarm so that the Remote locking worked. However I don't
know anything about alarms, therefore I don't know 1) if the man was
lying through his teeth about the functionality of the alarm - though
the receipt does say it cost 350 quid in 1990 and 2) where the alarm
is fitted on the car and if it has an independent battery supply.

So - is this worth checking out or is it impractical?

thanks in advance for replies
Dave
