Default Elises and their engines... - 05-16-2007 , 03:45 PM

Am I right in saying all Elises now have Toyota engines? Or is it just the
faster ones? If they indeed do all have ToyotaMotors, when were they
introduced?

Cheers :-)

Yes, all new Elises have the Toyota engine. The 111R has 189bhp and I think
the S has around 135bhp.
They stopped making the 111S with the 156bhp Rover engine in 2005 and the
111R with the Toyota engine was available from 2004.
And with a bit of luck my new garage will be built and have a 111S in it
before October :-)

Depends if you mean Elises coming straight and unmodified from Lotus.

The Toyota engine is heavy, the Honda S2000-conversion proves a popular
conversion (and about 50 Hp mor powerfull than the Toyota). The Honda
engine is far superior to the Toyota lump

There are also some very fast (turbo) Audi-Elise around.

Turbo-technics does a 190 and 230 HP Rover k-series supercharged engine.

I think Lotus swapped the 1.8 k-series for the Toyota around 2003. Along
came some 60 extra horses and a bill reflecting that extra power.

Enough said: one must drive an Elise even if only for a short time. The
S2 is easier to live with but I prefer the S1 for the sheer back to
basic experience. Hey! I even drive it without the hardtop/ rear window
now and leave the softtop at home :-)

The S1 needs more power though.

Nobody has a wiring loom of an K-series Lotus of MGF lying around in his
garage?

Driven a VX220 recently, was just toying with some ideas really. I want the
VX, but I'm not sure my back is up to it, bah! Still, if it gets better
before August, we'll see ;-)

I've got a rover 400 k-series loom, ideal for emarald installation

I suppose the wiring looms for all k-series, maybe on the exception of
the VVC, are the same.

Plaese send your price (sending to Brussels included) to
