Default Those eBay scam car sales... - 02-10-2007 , 11:57 AM

You know the ones, where said expensive motor is listed for just a few K on
a new account, and it's really obviously a scam? Summet like this -
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2004-HONDA-CIV...mZ220073243814

Well turns out, people ARE stupid enough to fall for them...

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2003-HONDA-CIV...mZ110090720655

This guy appeared to not only think he was getting a Type R for three an a
half grand, he also sent them the money, presumably without seeing the car
that doesn't exist heh.

Well, apart from the blindingly obvious points already mentioned, it clearly
states on the listing "Do not pay by using Western Union or other money
transfer services" and seeing as the guy's been an ebayer for 5 years - he
really should have known better..

But you didn't say anything about that guy. You said anyone. So that means
Mr/Mrs Joe/Joanne Bloggs looking for a car, signs up to eBay for the first
time and gets ripped off. Cool, though, right? Because they were stupid.

Caveat Emptor, as always.

If someone is advertising something at a price that's obviously too low
to be right, then anyone who agrees to buy - especially as they've not
seen the car - deserves to be ripped off.

Think of it as some kind of financial Darwinism.

Indeed. Seasoned ebayer or not, unless you're two brain cells short of a
flower, most people can work it out - if something seems too good to be true
it probably is...
