Point of Sale (material).

You're not doing your image any good here.

We can't all be international 'professionals' with Ford Exploders, you
know. Not that most of us would want to be, if it meant driving an
Exploder.
Tssk, logical fallacy. I choose to drive an Explorer. Would you also
refuse to drive a Jag or a Merc? Or indeed any of the Alfas, Citroens,
Land Rovers, Range Rovers, Triumphs, Pugs, that I've owned?

FWIW, I ordered some stuff to be delivered straight to me, 'cos stores
have a habit of losing things if you courier it in to them. It's not
uncommon for retail area managers to do this.
Indeed reps do it all the time.

To save some money, Leaseplan wanted me to send the Passat to one of

week. [1]

I booked it as a collect and return, sorted out insurance to use my 75
for business today and got my arse out of bed so I was ready for the
collection, between 9am and 11am this morning.

Only the fuckers haven't turned up.

So, that's a completely wasted day, then.

Next time, I'll insist it goes to VW - at least I'lll get a courtesy
car, even if it's a 1.2 Polo.

[1] Strange decision, given that VAG own 50% of Leaseplan.
Ah, Leaseplan - how worn are your tyres coz that's the next fun battle
you'll have!

Been there, done that. Twice.

Went in with fronts that were just about on the limit.

Asked for rears at the same time, 'cos they were at 2mm.

'Sorry - Leaseplan won't change them until they're on the limit'. Argh!

I *never* let tyres wear that much on my own cars.

Second time.....

Took the car into Thick Fuck, as the fronts were looking a bit illegal.

They only had Bridgestones in stock.

Apparently I'm not allowed Bridgestones 'cos I wear them out too
quickly.

Took half an hour of the Thick Fuck manager arguing and a phone call
from me threatening to bill them for a hire car to get them to authorise
the Bridgestones.

Shouldn't be his battle, ring them when you start to get close to the safe
tread depth then when they don't do anything ring your boss and tell him your
vehicle has been rendered unroadworthy as such you can't drive it. Record
both phone calls so when your boss tries to fire you, you have it to use at
the wrongful dismissal trial.

Ditto - 2mm is my absolute minimum.....

So it hasn't changed in the last 5 years then!

Fortunately I had a local TF manager who was on my side and was happy to
write off the tyres as min even if they weren't, and they always managed to
get me some half decent tyres......

Leasedrive weren't any different. At least up until about a year before
we changed to Arval we could take our cars to ATS for new tyres, and the
ATS in Stockton is really good; they are bothered about what they do,
never use air tools and actually torque the bolts on

I went there once with tyres almost on the limit and got the 'sorry,
Leasedrive won't let us change them' bit, so I drove the car out onto
the road outside, pulled the handbrake on, dumped the clutch and
generated shedloads of tyre smoke. 'How about now?' I asked the now
laughing ATS guy. They still weren't worn enough, bah...

Then Leasedrive moved to Quikfit! Needless to say, the first time I
needed tyres then fucked it up and couldn't manage to balance them
despite trying three times. I gave up in the end and after shouting at
Leasedrive they let me take it elsewhere, who managed to rebalance them
properly, first time.

Leasedrive had a good whinge to my old fleet department after I warped
two sets of brake discs in under six months...

I'm kinda glad I don't have the company car now, and my current employer
pays me business mileage in my own car. I've got an older car sure, but
my expenses paid for the car quickly, I service it myself and I can do
things like get new tyres when I want to.

And I don't tend to drive it like I stole it...

Mate of mine worked for an outlet that sold ex pendragon lease cars. Saw the
history for a subaru turbo he had in, the printout ran to about 8 pages
covering the service and repair items it had had.

Discs and pads every service, a couple of replaced "failed" disc sets, two
replacement turbos, tyres every 6-8k miles. Apparently not unusual for a
leased scooby.

I thought you said it was your own car? When you were bleating on about
the payment plan you were on, you kept saying it was your own.
