Default Ford Ka + ... - 04-02-2007 , 10:23 AM

RST Lump. Fun? Good weather is coming in and I'm looking for a summer
project. My V6 Astra wasn't as good as I thought it'd be last year...

Isn't an RST lump only 135 brake or so? I reckon you'll be a lot for an RST
lump in decent nick too. I'd go for something around 1.8L at least with
16V - the Puma lumps the obvious choice.

Hayabusa engine and a stripped interior / cage etc.

Probably beyond my technical abilities :P Although it does excite me to
think about it ...

Nah, seriously though...

RST engines are available relatively cheaply and in a fair state of tune. I
was thinking the 1700 Puma donk, but it's a tight fit and the 900 quid
premium for the kit could go towards a 160+ bhp RST lump. Then there's the
fact it's boosted ...

How much money are you planning to set aside for rebuilds? ;-)

RST engines aren't rattly because they tend to have been looked after.
Abused ones will have expired before now! If I got one, I'd be replacing the
cam and lifters straight away, anyway. I only want to do it for shits and
giggles. A 170+bhp Ka is going to scare the living shit out of any VXR / ST
/ Type R owner. In the straights and on the bends. Especially if the box on
the RST has an LSD.

I like to fuck about during the summer months with a project. Money isn't
really an object providing I don't go too nuts. If it lasts until the leaves
start to fall I'll punt it on and keep any profits towards the sprogs Santa
fund.

Regularly fecked CV joints - check

At least you're looking to change the tappets etc.

If they can fit a Honda B16 VTEC into a Mini, I'm sure you can make
one fit a KA... they're not that dear now, either.
