Hardy was a real improvement over XP. For a start, it required 3 times
the RAM to run a GUI, they broke previously working password protected
SMB browsing in Gnome when it changed from 2.22 to 2.24 and it started
killing laptop hard drives with the load cycle bug.
AND
apart from the wallpaper, it still looks basically the same as it did
in 5.10. Why? Because Gnome has hardly changed as it's still at 2.x.

either macbook pros or TFT iMacs to use textmate. Only me as the IT
manager, the marketing team, and the last 2 developers on pcs (both have
weird window manager or monitor configs on Ubuntu).
The marketing guys have certain software they need to use on Windows,
and I've been told I don't need a Mac as I don't need textmate because I
don't develop, I can't have a Mac + the flextime software is windows
only and runs bad enough on genuine windows hardware. I can't imagine
how bad it would be on parallels desktop.
So I'm stuck with an XP machine at work.
If I can, I'm going to memtest/diskcheck and iPC-OSX86the old laptop as
a project toy too.
