AFAIWA, SteveH has said nothing about the MR2 other than that it's
what Fiat /should/ have made with the X1/9 (something I personally
disagree with; the X1/9 is a fantastic car IMO, and only let down by
poor build on the 1.3, with mid 80s and well preserved Gran Finale
models being the best).
went very well with Uno Turbo engine too.

110+? we must be about equal then. Think I'm on 103 at the moment.

never driven an F40 though :-(

Drove a 208 GTB, 328 GTB and 512TR in the space of a week though, which was
nice.

They are indeed overpriced. However a set of Beru Silverstones (4xS7 and 4xS3F)
do the job very well and cost about a half of that.

Hmm, where do you get your mathematical ability?

I replaced all 8 plugs in my 164 last Saturday, total cost £ 15.44
(Partco) Oil (Shell Helix plus Semi Synthetic) cost £10 at local
ATS ( I know them ) Filter (Genuine Alfa) £ 5.40
Fuel filter (part £6.92

Total cost of minor service = £40.00. and that includes giving the
ATS spanner monkey £3 for fitting the plugs.

Cheap lumps to look after, the old, chain-driven twin-sparks, aren't
they?

I paid a little more for my plugs, but it was still only £24 incl.
VAT for 'em.

It's later TSs that can be expensive - I've seen prices up to £240
for a set of 'Golden Lodge' plugs. Erk!

Mind, they are platinum-tipped, and come with a 60k mile warranty.

the plugs I quoted for are platinum and are listed as the
replacements for alfa ts.

So you can judge how shite an engine is by how much the plugs cost?

no I judge it by how much people cry when I quote them for parts...

alfa owners, are the most tearful...

Surely you'd be better off with some aftermarket ones ?

I got a set of Denso Iridium's from eBay for about £22 last year.

Actually they do, about 20 hp more (2.0L). 150 hp from a 8v 2 litre NA
engine is
pretty good.

Err, no. BMW used a 150 PS two litre donk for some time. Chrysler's Neon
RT produces 150 PS from a 2.0 litre. The PSA Group have a number of 2.0
litre engines that produce over 150 PS. The Escort RS2000 produced 150 PS
from two litres, the ST170 produces 168 PS from two litres.

There are numerous Honda VTEC donks producing way more than 150 PS from
engines somewhat smaller. The 1.8 VVC K-series produces over 150 PS.
Similarily, some Toyota VVTi donks, too.

Numerous Clios produce 150 PS or more from 2.0 litres, or less.

Several Vauxhall 2.0 16v donks produced 150 PS.

And, finally, the VW 2.0 16v donk, as used in the mark three Golf GTi 16v
and Seat Ibiza, produced 150 PS.

So, not that special after all.
You seem to have missed the "8v" part of his post !

hmmm - never driven a BMW with a flat six, driven plenty with an in-line
six
though.

That's what puzzled me - I assumed it was something from way back in
time.

A google reveals nothing, though.
They're inline, not boxer.

I was. And I did. Just shows the way dealers try and rip off those who
aren't awake at service time.
