Derv, this probably won't interest you now as you're probably looking at spending a couple of grand on something a bit older, but I'm researching full maintenance contract hire prices for small cars at the moment, and the Ka was in the lead for a while, then got beaten by a Yaris D4D, but the current leader is the surprising Fiat Punto 1.2 8v "Sole" being £1.16/week cheaper than the Yaris. It's a Punto... they're fucking shite, HTH. Oh, and they're due to be replaced soon, so the already poor residuals on them are due to take another hammering soon. |

Charlie persuaded me to drive a BMW MINI One diesel today. 1.4 blah blah six speed blah blah sixty mpg blah blah YOU WANT TWELVE GRAND FOR IT?! Now don't get me wrong, it handles reasonably well and it's very direct, but it's not all that quick (barely quicker than Kermy on the motorway, inferior power delivery and with more body roll in twisty stuff) but that's with no options. Boot is half the size of the Ka. Okay so I knew the above but didn't want to be reminded of it. Option list resulted in much coughing. I mean, £680 for air conditioning? Bugger that. I can get a two year old S60 D5 auto for well under fourteen. Hell I can get a pre-registered Bora 130 TDI Highline for just over thirteen (down from nearly eighteen). -- The DervMan www.dervman.com |

But the Mini holds its value real well... How about a nice 1.8T A3? plenty of modding opportunities, and it's a nice drive. |
