If it was deliberate, I dunno, but correct response to the question e.g.
"please tell me what happened to my car" ought to sort that out.

I can't see it going to court if you just lost control, e.g. "patch of oil?"
type defence.

Even if you were hotdogging. Which, well, let's be honest...

I love the expression, "do you know why we pulled you over, sir?"

It's class, that, ain't it? ;-)

I have to admit, I do like the way they phrase that.

I bet they'd be really deflated if a driver said "Yeah <sigh>, I was driving
like a complete numpty" and accurately described what they'd done wrong.
Followed by a resigned and slightly ashamed droop of the shoulders. ;-)
I dunno. I've been followed by CID when I was in the Supra doing 110.
Not only was I not pulled, they were clearly having fun before they
peeled off to take another route through town (where I was clearly
intending to only do 30, and the large group of marked cars had been
waiting to catch up with the same miscreant who had presumably, taken
the same back-route through the town).

I know they were CID because it turns out said driver knew vaguely who I
was (private plates will do that).

Had a very very high speed incident with an unmarked octavia , suffice to
say we doubled the speed limits on single and dual carriageway roads,
initially I was just making good progress but felt like we were getting
pushed faster so we upped the pace.

Nothing /quite/ like the feeling of having a skoda pass you at est. 140mph
then flash blues at you at the next roundabout...
