Wouldn't it be cheaper and simpler just to have one decent car?

Ah c'mon Conor, WTF do you know about that ?

I have one decent car. It started as a shed but I kept going with it
until it became decent rather than randomly buying several £100 shite
sheds then finding out they're worth scrap and breaking them, never
actually finishing one.
I assume thats aimed at me?

Ok, the Nova I admit was a bad buy as I underestimated the rust. But it
covered about 10k miles in 6 months and didn't miss a beat. it's the only
car I've ever broken. All my others have been sold one (except for 2 I
crashed).

The Volvo I bought for £250 and have improved it dramatically over the last
18 months. It's seen as one of the best 360s about by many in the 300
scene. With it put back to being almost standard it'll still sell for £300+

The BX I bought for £360. Done a fair bit of work, but i's now locked away
in the garage until I start work on it again later in the summer. Worth far
more than paid for it.

The other BX I recently sold I bought for £100 with a mate last year. Spent
a few hundred quid on it and sold it for £720.

The SD1 I recently purchased has turned out to be a bit of a bargain.
Beautiful bodywork (not perfect but it could be with a bit of work), clean
and tidy underneath, sweet engine and soon to have a years MoT with about
£100 being spent on it. Could easily make a tidy profit from this if i
wanted to sell it on.

The 205 I got for free from a mate as I needed a cheap car quickly. It's
now cost a total of about £200, but has a years MoT, 6 months tax, a full
service and a cambelt change, plus a few other bits sorted too. This is the
girlfriends car and is the only one that needs to be working as it's the
only car that's used everyday. All my cars are just play things. I dont
need something reliable/economical/cheap to run.

I enjoy cars, and if I see one I want I'll buy it. End of. Couldn't really
give a toss what a grumpy old bastard thinks.

Actually, no. It applies to a wide range of "classic" car owners.
