Default L60RDY - 12-20-2003 , 08:53 PM

Yes, I know how you all hate Private reg plates, but I thought i'd share
this anyway:-)

I was in Watford the other day in the Harlequin car park and I drove past
what I think was an M5, only saw it from the front/side view (but it had the
right wheels and front bumper), and it had the number plate L60RDY.

All you pedantic arseholes can say hmm, that doesn't spell anything to me.
But it made me smile anyway, would be an excellent plate to have on your car
Lordy!

Incidentally, where does the name Lordy come from?Nickname, job title,
sexual position??

Actually I'm not sure we all do. It's just 'cool' to hate them and I'm
ashamed to say I've joined in with it on occasion.

I mean, people hate personal plates because they're about vanity... how
fucked up is that. 99% of everything to do with cars is about vanity,
the bodywork, the engine, the stereo, ad infinitum.

Personally, I think I'm going to have to go with the safe neutral
opinion.

Again, another point people use. Who cares if the plate doesn't mean
anything to the person reading it. It's for the person who's *driving*
it.

If you've been following the group recently, you'll know that I was half
tempted by "L600 RDY" (600 and Lordy all in one go), which is available
and cheap. I wouldn't have it tho on the basis that, to those people who
do not realise what it signifies, it would make the car appear to be an
L plate model, rather than an R plate. Just another form of that
motoring vanity so many people seem to hate I guess...

"Mission Earth" by L.Ron Hubbard. A series of ten utterly fantastic
books. Back when I was in my teens I took my 'online' name (Overlord.UK)
from the appointed title of lead character within, Soltan Gris,
Inspector General Overlord of Blito-P3 (iirc). Later this was shortened
to just "Lordy", which then morphed into Lr0dy, which is what I mostly
use these days (which was a bit of a pisstake of ye olde l33t 'Net speak
but also very functional in that, whilst there are thousands of
Overlords, Lordys and so forth out there, I have not yet come across
another Lr0dy.).

If anyone's into Sci-Fi, and likes their humour dark (but not too
heavy), I'd thoroughly recommend them. If you've got the time of course,
it's ten BIG novels.

And that concludes today's history lesson
