Anyway, I want to buy a new road bike (1) soon to compliment the mountain bike cum hybrid I've already got, but I'm not keen to spend the kind of money I'm looking at on something that then gets left outside to rot when not in use. |

Old Raleigh 10 and 12 speeds can be had for fuck all (witness my Raleigh Banana), but the gears are fucking high if you live anywhere vaguely hilly. And the fact that despite getting a freebie front wheel, freebie dual pivot brakes etc. I still had to spend £60 on fitting mudguards and a new headset before it was really usable. Still, 23mm tyres go like fucking stink and doing stoppies on a road bike is entertaining. |
