I knew a guy once that had and took it to BB tuning - they did him a hybrid
turbo, dump valve etc. Once stitched up a Saab Turbo up a motorway
sliproad. Granted, it probly weighed about as much as a fag packet

Lack of throttle to be precise. Hence there's nothing to dump!

yes but whyyyyy

Because it doesnt have a throttle!!!! So when you lift off, there's not a
throttle closed, so there's no build up of air, and so there's nothing to
dump. All the air is just chucked into the cylinders, hence a diesel will
run lean most of the time.

Exception to the rule of no throttle means
no dump valve required.

Sooner or later someone is going to fit a turbo
to one of the latest bmw engines .... the petrol engine
i'm thinking of has electrically operated valves,
and has no throttle butterfly to restrict the air flow into
the engine.
(Essentially runs on full throttle all the while, with the valves
providing the restriction).

Scary stuff ... gimme a camchain any day!!
