anyone used them?

been looking at the silver star bulbs and wondered if there any good and
if
they look white instead of shitty yellow?

Got Philips Vision plus in my car, similar thing (they're cheap at Ford
dealers see). They're certainly brighter, not sure if whiter. I imagine
the
Philips / Osram websites would boast about it if they were - look for a
light colour in Kelvins, eg 8000K or something.

I've got Philips Vision plus too and they are pretty white (not HID look
blue) but they are halogen so not HID white.

8000 K is very blue. Apparently 5200k is a pretty pure white. Halogens are
typically 3200k-3800k.

I think blue bulbs look silly, they make a car look like it has HID look
blue bulbs in because they are far too blue bluer than HID. People usually
don't change their sidelight bulbs so they end up with a yellow patch in
their lights which makes them look more silly. HID look bulbs just look blue
they don't actually look like HID.

have to agree, i want white light with no yellow crap. had blue bulbs in my
cav and they looked wank. i did have some proper white bulbs in it before i
sold it giving to me by a mate but as they wasn't in a box never knew what
make they were, looked good with the blue LED sidelights i had though hehe.

i just want a really nice white bulb, HID has a blue twinkle to it they aint
actually blue and you can't really copy that.

spoke to a guy on the MR2 imoc site and he's got some import bulbs i liked
the look of so he's gonna gimmie his spare set, also a good excuse to see
his 405bhp MKII hehe

Nor do they change colour with angle in the same way - the only person
they fool is the gullible owner.

"prismatic effect" is perhaps the best description...

And the blue coating actually reduces light output too.

Waste of time.

Get yourself to eBay - there are *STACKS* of sellers in the USA selling
"white looking" bulbs for a tenner or so. I've had a couple of different
sets, and been very pleased with em.

Which ones are good though?
I bought some for my car from Sharkracing.com, 100w jobbies with a blue
filter. Looked like my car had HID bulbs through the projector lenses (50w
white ones are a nice colour but uselessly dim), but 2 sets burnt out very
quickly (Life span was a few months) so im back to normal 50w halfraud
things.
Dunno - mine aren't really branded, but they've got lots of Japanese on the
packaging if that helps - and they say Xenon on them

I've had em a year now, and they're still going strong...

Except that people (like me) buy these bulbs so they give a white (not
yellow) light.

Quite obviously they're not gonna look anything like a HID setup !

But then you just buy a slightly higher wattage of bulb. Light output then
remains the same, but it's not chatty yellow.

Got some on my Rover 200 to replace the shitty OEMs. A huge improvement in
light output and well worth the money IMO. The light is certainly brighter
and seems to be less yellow than the original bulbs but I wasn't that
bothered about that - just being able to see better at night, and for that
they certainly do the job!

But if you'd bought the higher wattage bulbs without the (stupid boy racer
blue) coating you'd get more light on the road.

But it would be yellow
