I'd prefer it if people could press the stop pedal and understand
how not to fuck it up.

There is categorically no way whatsoever a human driver can
outperform ABS in an unplanned knee-jerk panic situation. Anyone who
thinks otherwise is an idiot.

Was it you or Nom who was saying a good driver would always be
prepared for anything, and never find themselves in a panic
situation...?
Wasn't me - I've been bailed out by my ABS in the past

Anyway, 99.9% of drivers on the road, are not good drivers.

Clearly it would be nice if the fool coming towards you at 60mph, with all
four wheels locked, frantically hacking at the steering wheel, had ABS on
his 1991 Vauxhall Astra

And on top of all that, even the very best drivers will sometimes get into
trouble ! Schumacher crashed in the tunnel yesterday.

There is, if you have good car control, no way you should ever be
slamming the stop pedal in any situation, and if you do, you should
be aware enough of your car to correct your mistake in time.
Agreed.
But that's not always the case - even the best drivers will have the
occasional hiccup !

Modern
cars are all about taking responsibility, feel and control away from
the driver though.
That's a seperate issue

Have no TV, no fixed addres as such either - such are the the joys of
a company moving your father's job (and rest of family) to a foreign
country...

Do have a PC with DVD for filmage, but plenty of other things to do at
uni anyways ;-)
