Go and do your Grp B license, then turn up at Mallory on any wednesday
throughout the year. 80quid for half a days testing. Much better value than
a track day and less idiots likely to run into you.

In which case, you also can't afford the tank of fuel, and new tyres and
brakes, that a decent track session will require

I don't think I'll manage to completely destroy the tyres, they're all new.
The brakes I don't mind about as I want to put better ones on. Might be a
better idea to do the brakes first :P.

Don't know about open to the public, but Angelsey is bookable through
Bookatrack (5th gear use it for tests sometimes, they tested the Boxster
in the best used sportscar test there).

Was there on Monday for a Saab exclusive booked track day.

Also, what about the Isle of Man? Out of town, no speed limits. Won't
get booked for speeding, but they are very heavy on people who drive
like an arse, or push temselves too far. In towns, very strict, so I've
heard. Also no racing, they will hammer you for that too.

Also what about the brighton speed trials, popular wiyth every one from
1920's Rollers and bentley's, through to the Max Saxo VTS crowd?

Also for some spectating, try and see when the New Brighton rally stages
are on?

Don't the Ka Klub organise anything?

This is what the rest of the UK should be like. No speed limits out-of-town,
but a THOROUGH kicking if you drive in a dangerous/twat-like manner.

what, you mean give the driver some responsibility, make them be aware
of their failing, Make the police actually have people on the road, and
reduce funding for the police force? never catch on that.

You're right - it will never catch on. Joe Public won't accept the HUGE rise
in taxes to pay for all the extra police required.

or the speed camera revenue lost.
Exactly.
So the current system is as good as they can manage, with their current
budget.

And as has been said before. Safety cameras can't judge safety aspects
of driving, only speed.

Cameras can judge some safety aspects. I'd ban all people caught by
fixed speed cameras for a minimum of six months because if you can't see
a luminous yellow box and slow down for it you shouldn't be on the road.

Bollocks. I was nearly caught by a camera that I've driven past every day
for *months* because a loon hadn't seen me and was trying to change lanes
into the space that was occupied by my car, and I was trying to get out of
his way...
I wasn't entirely serious. You could have braked :-)
